Year 3 - Chestnut & Sycamore

CHESTNUT CLASS

I am excited to share all the fantastic learning and achievements from June in Chestnut class. I cannot believe we are entering the final weeks of the school year, and our brilliant pupils continue to throw themselves into every new challenge with determination and a smile.

It has been another action-packed month for Chestnut class, and I could not be prouder of how far the children have come over the past 10 months as they have truly mastered the demanding routines of Key Stage 2! We are currently halfway through our swimming lessons at Saxon Pool, and the children are doing an amazing job both in and out of the water, representing our school beautifully to members of the public during our Friday afternoon sessions. Back in the classroom, our young researchers completed the "Grip Strength Challenge" in science, investigating whether hand span size affects grip strength, while in English, the children have written some fantastic diary entries from the perspective of Iliona, a young slave in Roman times. This ties in perfectly with our history topic exploring why the Romans came to Britain, which is building lots of excitement for our upcoming Roman Day at the start of July!

The document below provides an overview of the knowledge, skills and understanding that children are generally expected to achieve by the end of Year 3. It is intended as a guide to help you understand the learning that has taken place throughout the year and the expectations as your child prepares to move into Year 4.
