Most teaching at Gothic Mede Academy is delivered in mixed ability classes. Within these classes children may be grouped by ability to better meet their needs. Some groups are targeted for limited periods and taught intensively for short periods of time on a regular basis to improve specific knowledge, skills and understanding. Teachers use a variety of teaching methods including whole class, paired, small group and individual activities.
The National Curriculum applies to children of compulsory school age. You may be aware that this has been reviewed and a new Primary National Curriculum is launched in September 2014. At Gothic Mede Academy we cover Key Stage 1 (5-7 years old) and part of Key stage 2 (7-9 years old).
You will find more information about the curriculum that we teach on the Class Pages.
